Tassels are one of the cutest accessories right now and make an adorable keychain! They’re pretty easy to make, even for someone like me who isn’t craft inclined. I tried a few different ways and this one seemed to be the easiest!
What you’ll need:
I used a pair of fabric scissors, embroidery floss (you’ll probably use about one per tassel), a keyring, and a piece of cardboard to wrap your string around. My piece of cardboard was about 5 by 4 inches.
Slide your keyring onto the cardboard until it’s on tight. Then take the end of your string and hold it tight at the other end of the cardboard. Next, start to thread your string through the keyring, and wrap it around over and over, threading it through the ring every time. Make sure to leave about 2 feet at the end to tie it off.
When your cardboard is starting to look full cut the string at the end of the cardboard WITHOUT the keyring. That way when the tassel is done the end will just blend in! Next, gently slide the string off of the cardboard along with the keyring making sure to keep it the same orientation as it was on the cardboard. (so the ends don’t get mixed up)
Now, use the extra piece of string you saved to tie a knot about half an inch down from the top of your little loop, and make sure you make one side much longer than the other so that you can use that one to loop around the tassel. Then, take the longer piece and starting at the knot loop around the tassel for about a quarter of an inch to really give it that perfect tassel look! Lastly, all you have to do is find cut the ends of your tassel to remove the loop and cut the ends of your string you used for the knot, and that’s it! You have a tassel keychain, congrats!
